When the Widnes Waterfront Programme began almost six years ago the objectives were very clear. Firstly, to bring about a wholesale environmental uplift of a sadly neglected area of the Borough. Secondly, to lay the foundations for a leisure and recreation destination of regional significance and finally, and perhaps most significantly, to create a business location able to compete with the best in the North West.

Over the last six years the Widnes Waterfront Programme has made huge strides towards the realisation of its overall objectives.

For some time most of the hard work has been taking place behind the scenes but now the fruits of all that hard work are manifest in perhaps the most visible way, with contractors on site and steel coming out of the ground.
