Welcome

The Widnes Waterfront, formally an Economic Development Zone, is a multi-million pound regeneration programme driving the transformation of over 360 acres of former industrial land on the banks of the River Mersey.

The programme has benefited from £6.2million European Regional Development Funding, £5.1 million from the Northwest Development Agency and approximately £3.5 million of Halton Strategic Partnership and Halton Borough Council funds. Public funds are used as a lever to facilitate the wholesale regeneration of the area.

Over the programme lifetime, it is anticipated over £70 million of investment will be brought into the area, transforming it into a commercial and tourism development site of regional significance in a stunning riverside setting.
