Welcome

The Widnes Waterfront, formally an Economic Development Zone, is a multi-million pound regeneration programme facilitating the transformation of over 200 acres of former industrial land on the banks of the River Mersey.

Over the past six years, the programme has utilised £6.2million European Regional Development Funding and is continuing to invest its allocation of £6.6 million from the Northwest Development Agency, along with an approximate £3.5 million of Neighbourhood Renewal Funding and Halton Borough Council funds, as a lever to facilitate the wholesale regeneration of a derelict, former industrial area in southern Widnes.

It is anticipated that, in excess of, £70 million of investment will be brought into the area which will transform the area into a commercial and tourism development site of regional significance in a stunning riverside setting.
